Salzburg – Where do we come from? Where are we going? The exhibition that opened yesterday is dedicated to these questions with U.S. artist Susan Swartz’s works on display for the first time in a multifaceted place: the Collegiate Church in Salzburg. The church was built in 1707 in a UNESCO World Heritage Site and has an eventful history: it is the University Church and theatre. Under Napoleon, the Baroque building served as a hay barn, and later was a garrison church. Since 1922, the Collegiate Church has hosted the Salzburg Festival. Now the meticulously restored church is renewed again– as a gallery! “The 14 works by Susan Swartz create an exciting relationship between art and the Church and let the spiritual place seem even more magnificent,” said the artistic director Prof. Dr. Walter Smerling.“A Personal Path” is open until July 4, 2014
