A NATURAL BALANCE
Increasingly, I find myself at a nexus point between the practice of art and the pursuit of optimal health. My latest work is an expression of that exploration.
UTAH WOMEN’S MURAL
In celebration of Women’s Equality Day August 26,2020, Zions Bank sponsored artist Jann Haworth to create a 5000 square foot mural featuring 250 prominent Utah women. Susan is honored to be featured alongside such trailblazing women leaders in our community.
WHY I PAINT: EARTH DAY REFLECTIONS
Today's forced seclusion and wake up call to stay healthy has once again granted me the luxury of time to ponder what really matters. The clarity that our seclusion affords is a gift and it motivates me to renew my pledge to truly appreciate, exalt, protect and preserve the beauty of nature through my art in every way I can.
This is why I paint.
SUSAN’S LATEST COMMISSION DEDICATED TO ZION NATIONAL PARK
Last Saturday August 31st, Susan was honored to unveil one of her latest paintings, Zion’s Glow (72x72” acrylic on linen) at the Zion National Park Centennial Celebration. Commissioned by Zions Bank, the painting was dedicated at the VIP Dinner for the Utah Symphony concert featuring Sting.

Susan Swartz Studios is pleased to announce the upcoming dedication of Swartz’s latest commission, Zion’s Glow, a 72x72” acrylic on linen painting. Commissioned by Zions Bank, this large-scale painting is a gift to Zion National Park in honor of its Centennial year.
SUSAN SWARTZ FEATURED AT MELIDES ART, PORTUGAL
Artist Susan Swartz was honored to be invited as one of five exhibiting visual artists to participate in the groundbreaking kick off of the new Melides Art Pavilion designed by James Waterworth, SOHO House's former European Design Director. The exclusive invite only launch took place on May 18 to coincide with Lisbon's prestigious annual contemporary Art Fair, ARCO 2019 which took place May 15 - 19. ARCO boasts an interesting mix of Portuguese and international artists drawing leaders in the European art world, writers, photographers and critics there to take part.

The popularity of art fairs has grown in the past decade. These venues bring together galleries, artists, and collectors to learn about artists from around the world and to recognize and contemplate the importance of art in society. Many fairs focus on certain themes and will often feature panels and conversations among leaders involved in all aspects of the art world.
A REVIEW OF SUSAN SWARTZ’S PERSONAL PATH SOLO EXHIBITION AT THE LUDWIG MUSEUM IN KOBLENZ, GERMANY - MAY 21 - AUGUST 2, 2015
At the famous Deutsches Eck, or “German Corner”, where the Rhine and Moselle rivers converge, lies one of Germany's oldest and most beautiful towns – Koblenz. It has been dedicated as a UNESCO world heritage site and is considered to be a national treasure. It is also the backdrop for Susan Swartz’s latest solo exhibition, Personal Path, where 80 of her works occupy three floors of the City’s esteemed Ludwig Museum.
SUSAN SWARTZ AWES AND SURPRISES AT FINANCIAL TIMES OPENING NIGHT PARTY FOR FRIEZE NYC
On Thursday, May 14, Susan Swartz’s original art work could be found displayed throughout the home of Financial Times US Managing Editor Gillian Tett in honor of the opening day of Frieze New York 2015. As long time supporters of Swartz’s work, Tett and partner Joshua Brockner wanted to feature her paintings and art video installation at the event. More than 10 of Swartz’s paintings, including those from her Contemplation Series and newest series Blue Reverie, were on display as well as her video, Preserving Grace, produced with cinematographer Louie Schwartzberg.
SUSAN SWARTZ IS NOW FEATURED IN SOLO EXHIBITION AT LUDWIG MUSEUM, KOBLENZ
On Wednesday evening, May 20th, an exhibition of paintings by Susan Swartz, opened at the Ludwig Museum in Koblenz, Germany. This solo exhibition entitled, Personal Path, features more than 80 works of art spanning various stages of her career. Works exhibited encompass many styles, showcasing Swartz’s evolution as an artist from a realist painter to an abstract painter. The exhibition will be on view through August 2, 2015.
FOREST GLOW 0 US STATE DEPARTMENT ART IN EMBASSIES PROGRAM
Susan was recently invited to participate in the Art in Embassies (AIE) program and her work will be displayed at the US Ambassadorial Residence in New Zealand. AIE, formalized by President John F. Kennedy in 1963, uses the visual arts to achieve the US State Department’s goals of promoting public diplomacy through cross-cultural dialogue. AIE has over 20,000 participants globally, including artists, curators, galleries, museums, private collectors, and universities.
A SOLO EXHIBITION AT THE MUSEUM LUDWIG KOBLENZ
Museum Ludwig Koblenz and Susan Swartz Studios are proud to announce Susan Swartz's solo exhibition, A Personal Path. Consisting of approximately 80 major works, Susan's paintings will be featured in the entire museum and will be on view from May 21 to August 2, 2015. The Exhibition will include a number of very recent paintings as well as significant earlier work from private collections and museums.
THE BHUTAN SERIES
The Bhutan Series is a new set of paintings inspired by Susan’s recent trip to Bhutan, the land of Gross National Happiness. Focusing on native vibrant colors, The Bhutan Series explores the region’s landscape, in particular its rare confluence of spirituality and natural beauty.
COMBINING SPIRITUALITY WITH NATURE: SUSAN’S TROP TO BHUTAN
The Kingdom of Bhutan is a land of startling beauty and aesthetic contrast: craggy peaks and verdant valleys, fraying rope bridges stretching across milky blue glacial rivers, terraced rice paddies and stone templates strung with faded prayer flags. Much has been made of Bhutan’s promotion of Gross National Happiness as its primary national measurement.
FROM THE SEA TO THE MOUNTAINS
As the Salzburg Festival commences in earnest this week, Susan Swartz has made the trek from her studio on the sea in Martha’s Vineyard to the mountains of Austria. Traveling to Salzburg to celebrate the beginning of the Festival and the continuation of her exhibition, A Personal Path, Susan’s journey is in many ways representative of the breadth of her collection. From the waves that lap at the shores of Massachusetts to the winds that blow across the forested peaks of the Wasatch Mountains in Utah, Susan is a master of depicting scenes of great beauty from both settings.
SALZBURG FESTIVAL EXPLORES RELIGION THROUGH MUSIC
In a matter of mere weeks, the city of Salzburg will erupt with activity as the annual Salzburg Festival commences on July 18. The streets will bustle with visitors from more than 70 countries, restaurants and coffee shops will buzz with conversations in different languages, and the various venues for the Festival performances will fill to capacity.
THE EXTENSION OF A PERSONAL PATH
Once in a while we are treated to something unexpected that reminds us of the power of human creativity and passion. A Personal Path at the Kollegienkirche in Salzburg is one of those rare treats and the announcement of the exhibition’s extension through fully half of the world-famous Salzburg Festival is a magnificent icing on the cake.
THE ARRIVAL OF SUMMER
Summer is settling upon Martha’s Vineyard like a picnic blanket atop a hill. As the sun’s rays grow stronger and friends and neighbors flock toward the shore, we are reminded of the awesome power of the sea to motivate and inspire. There is no better time than this moment to reflect upon Susan Swartz’s water paintings – the breadth and depth of which are not to be overlooked.
BREAKING NEW ARTISTIC GROUND
The art world is legendary for taking risks, but the Catholic Church less so. That's in part why tonight's grand opening of Swartz's exhibit "A Personal Path" at the breathtaking Baroque Kollegienkirche cathedral in Salzburg is so special. It falls on May 29th, the Day of Ascension, and is a major honor and feather in the cap of the career of a American artist. The creative collaborative concept is an actual breakthrough and is making headlines in Europe for bringing contemporary art to an unlikely setting.
ART AND ARCHITECTURE, A SYNERGISTIC RELATIONSHIP
Harmony is a state of coexistence, it is achieved when two or more entities complement each other and enhance one another’s effects. It is ubiquitous, but when things are in perfect harmony we rarely give a second thought to the disparate elements at play. The connection between art and architecture is too often forgotten, an example of a harmonious relationship.
