Water Study Series

The Water Study series is special for many reasons, not the least of which is that it provides a near perfect snapshot of the various forms taken by water in the human estimation, and in reality. With eleven individual pieces, the series can be said to portray still, settled lakes and ponds, roaring and rushing rivers, the ocean in its various states of motion or calm, and perhaps even a waterfall.

As with many of Susan Swartz's paintings, these pieces and indeed, the series as a whole, is open to individual interpretation. Some may see a sunset where others see dawn creeping across gentle waves. Some may see seaweed intermingled with lily pads where others see the shadows of weeping willows above a surface still as glass. The Water Study series is yours, the viewer's, to behold and find meaning in.
